The scene
sites i use
the bookmarks bar, explained. grouped by what i actually use them for.
finding cabs#
zenius -i- vanisher (ZIv)#
- what: the arcade locator. maps of arcades + which machines they have, with versions and player-submitted notes
- use it for: "is there a chuni within 30 min of here," checking whether a spot updated to the new version, travel planning
- tips: the per-arcade comments are where the real info lives ("left maimai screen is dead," "sdvx knobs are cooked"). check the date on entries, lots are stale
- also: it has old-school forums and score tracking for older bemani stuff, but i only use it as a map
google maps (sadly)#
- for opening hours and "is this place still open at all." ZIv lags reality
song / chart data#
arcade-songs (zetaraku)#
- what: a searchable database of songs and charts for maimai, chuni, sdvx (and ongeki, wacca)
- use it for: finding charts by level/constant, checking what's new this version, and it's the data source for kiroku
- tip: the filter by internal level is the killer feature. "show me every 14.5–14.7 i haven't SSS+'d" is a real workflow
RemyWiki / SilentBlue#
- RemyWiki: the bemani wiki (sdvx, plus every other konami game)
- SilentBlue: the sister wiki for sega games (maimai, chuni, ongeki)
- use it for: song pages, artist info, version history, unlock conditions, chart notes
- tip: song pages list every revision of a chart, which is how you find out why your old score looks weird
otoge-db#
- what: fast lookup for maimai/chuni songs with constants
- use it for: quick "what's the cc of this" checks on my phone
official song lists#
- sega publishes official song list json for maimai and chuni on their sites
- konami's sdvx site has the music list
- use it for: ground truth when community sites disagree
chart viewers#
sdvx.in#
- what: chart previews for sdvx (and chuni + some others) rendered as scrolling images
- use it for: reading a chart before i waste a credit on it. absolutely essential for chuni airs and sdvx lasers
- tip: the jp site is the one to use, bookmark the level index pages
youtube#
- handcams > chart videos. watching someone's hands teaches you more than watching notes fall
- i keep a playlist of handcams per chart on my grind list, see goals
score tracking#
kamaitachi (kamai)#
- what: community score tracker that supports a big list of games incl. maimai DX, chuni, sdvx
- use it for: long-term score history, session views, folder lamp views, comparing with friends
- tip: imports from various sources; for the sega games you usually go through a bookmarklet/scraper on the official net site
- status: my main tracker until kiroku is real. kiroku will export in a format kamai can import
maimai DX NET / CHUNITHM-NET#
- sega's official player pages (paid "standard course" for the good stuff)
- use it for: full score lists, play history, friend comparisons
- tip: the community bookmarklets that scrape these into kamai or rating calculators all depend on this subscription
e-amusement app / site#
- konami's equivalent for sdvx. paid basic course required for detailed data
- the app is fine for checking recent plays, terrible for anything else
rating calculators#
- various community sites that take your net data and show your best-35/15 (maimai) or best/new frames (chuni) with "what to improve" suggestions
- i use them to decide what to grind. kiroku is supposed to replace them
trackers (the other kind)#
bemaniso.ws#
- private tracker for the scene. that's all i'm writing here, rule 1 and all that
- note to self: keep ratio healthy, don't be the person who asks how to get an invite
community#
- discord servers: the regional rhythm game servers are where cab status, meetups and "the round1 maimai got updated" news actually happens. bay area server is the one i check daily
- reddit: r/maimai, r/chunithm, r/bemani. good for memes and the occasional useful post
- twitter/x: for jp players, chart creators and official announcements. version news drops there first
