The scene
cards, accounts & networks
the "why does my card work here but not there" page.
the cards#
aime (sega)#
- used for maimai and chuni (and ongeki)
- one card holds your profiles for all sega games
- the access code (20 digits) is the real identity, the card is just a way to send it
- you can link it to a SEGA ID for the net sites (maimai DX NET, CHUNITHM-NET)
e-amusement pass (konami)#
- used for sdvx (and every other bemani game)
- also holds your profile per game
- links to a KONAMI ID for e-amusement site/app access
banapass (bandai namco)#
- not used for my three games, but it's in the wallet for taiko and wangan
the cursed card stack#
i carry: 1× aime, 1× e-amusement pass, 1× banapass, 1× the backup aime that i registered and forgot about. the backup aime has a level 4 maimai profile on it. we don't talk about the backup aime.
networks & regions#
this is where it gets annoying.
maimai DX / chuni#
- JP: the main version, gets updates first
- international (asia): separate servers, runs a version or so behind, english menus
- NA: cabs in the US mostly run on the international setup (round1 being the big operator). song lists differ from JP because of licensing
- china: entirely separate (舞萌DX / 中二节奏), separate cards and servers
practical: your aime profile on a US cab lives on the international server. it does NOT carry to a JP cab. a JP trip = a fresh profile or a separate card.
sdvx#
- konami's official cabs are mostly in JP and select asian regions
- sdvx in the US is a mess historically: some cabs ran on official network, some didn't. check ZIv comments before you go, and ask the operator if unsure
- e-amusement profile is tied to the network the cab is on
why NA is cursed#
- licensing means song lists differ from JP
- versions lag
- some games are only available through specific operators
- half the community knowledge (constants, chart notes) is written for JP versions
- kiroku has to handle "this chart exists in JP but not on my cab." the song DB has a region availability flag for this
the paid courses#
- maimai DX NET / CHUNITHM-NET standard course: monthly fee, unlocks full score history and the data that score importers need
- e-amusement basic course: same idea for konami
- worth it if you track scores. kiroku can work without them (manual + photo logging), which is half the point
